How To Use Chroma-Key?

Post by KYS »

Hello,

Seems like Chroma-Key is used for creating interesting effects (http://www.ulead.co.uk/vs/plugin.htm). But I can't figure out how to use this effect, can anyone help?

Chromakey was originally known as color separation overlay, and it basically means that you pick a color and make it electronically transparant so that any other video source can be keyed into it. In Video Studio, this involves using an overlay track. I refer you to page 86 of the video studio 10 user manual where the details are explained.

Hi Steve,

Whenever I apply Chroma-key to my plain background video, I only get the whole clip darkened, whereas when I applied the same to the sample clip of the girl with camcorder, it worked well in making the background transparent.

Please tell me what I will have to do to achieve that, thanks.

When you apply the Chroma Key
Image it makes a guess at which colour you are trying to make transparent.

To correct this and choose the one you wish to make transparent you click the eye dropper and then move your mouse to the preview screen and click on the colour that you wish to key out.

You can make further adjustments using the drop down box to the right of the eye dropper (currently showing 70)

KYS... to further add to the illustrious sjj1805 excellent comments on adjusting

You can make further adjustments using the drop down box to the right of the eye dropper (currently showing 70)

by playing with the values inside said box currently showing 70, you can get some good effects of the background you have inserted. Also the foreground subject comes out with a different look effect
