Hello, I have a 40 minute project that has multiple clips (sound, overlay, title, etc). I want to keep the first five minutes worth and dump the rest. Is there a way to highlight the clips I want to keep in the project and do a global deleting of the rest? I tried ctrl-a and various shift combinations but cannot get it to work. yes, exporting the project to MPG and then reimporting it and clipping the minutes out is an option, but I would like to maintain the ability to edit the first few minutes.
Thanks

How do I erase most of my project but keep the beginning?

Click on the first clip you want to delete, then shift>click on the last. That will select all those in between. Right click and choose delete.
If you have multiple titles, overlays, music, etc. throughout the 40 minute project, an easier way may be to save that project as is. Then start with a clean timeline and insert that vsp project to your timeline. Now go to the 5 minute mark and use the scissors tool to split your video. Now you can delete the excess 35 minutes and resave your first 5 minutes.

Yes - but your doing it the wrong way round - use "Select - Shift+Select" (standard windows multi object selection method) to select all the files you want to DELETE - then hit the delete key on your keyboard - save your project.
The windows standard "Ctrl+Select" also works if the objects are not continuous in the timeline

That doesn't work for me. It just selects the next clip I click on without "keeping" the first clip I used Ctrl on. The Shift+Select works fine. The windows standard "Ctrl+Select" also works if the objects are not continuous in the timeline
