Itunes - RSS - MP4 what's the deal?

Post by mothermugger »

Hey perhaphs someone out there has already done this.

I have some nice video of my friends band - I have put it up on YouTube now I want to start a PODCAST on iTunes store.

Problem one: using Ulead VstudioX what format should I use to output the video? When I use the one for ipod-mpg4 it will not play from my feed - becuase I think it is protected - as it will play from my computer.

It there a way to make an unprotectdd MPG4 file? What out put settings should I use for best results with iTunes?

Any help or ideas would be great - I have tried several settings and so far my RSS is not iTunes ready - my RSS feed is here: irt3.com/rss

Thanks!

The MPEG-4 video file made by VS 10 is not a protected MPEG-4 file.

For putting a POD-casting video file on the iTunes platform, please contact Apple for further support.

http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/

If you wish to put a video onto YouTube, as I know YouTube suggests its users to put the video as a DivX / XviD 320x240 file.

The following is from the YouTube FAQ page:
YouTube wrote: http://www.youtube.com/t/help_cat05

Q: What's the best format to upload for high quality?
A: We recommend the MPEG4 (Divx, Xvid) format at 320x240 resolution with MP3 audio, at 30 frames per second. Resizing your video to these specifications before uploading will help your clips look better on YouTube.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply but look here: http://www.irt3.com/rss/menu.htm

The WMV file works great! but the MP4 will not play from the internet - I can't even download the file without getting an error messaage.

I can play the MP4 from my desktop, and I did get the internet copy to play through frontpage but that's it.

Can you play the MP4 file?

?!?!?

Hi,

The MP4 format is not a streaming file format so you cannot play it just like WMV. Please contact Apple to know how to put a video podcasting file for your iTunes.

How do we choose divx / xvid in VS 10? Is this the same as "mpeg-4 ipod"?
