Vhs captures but without audio

I'm using an ATI TV wonder card for analog capture from my vcr.
I can hear the audio when I'm doing the capture but it's not there when
I play the clip back.
I'm also trying out WinDvd and that program doesn't seem to have this problem.
Any ideas?
