How far off is the time?

When you add a chapter, it has to start on an I-frame. I-frames are typically about 1/2 second apart.

Is that the problem? Your chapters are off by a fraction of a second?

I which it was just a second, it can be from 30 sec to 5 min...

What i do is first see the Live i recoreded from TV with my software DVD player (generally it's Win DVD) then wrote on a note the time for each song, then when i use Ulead to build chapter i have 60 % of the time a difference between the time i wrote on the note and the time i seek on Ulead, like i said from 30 sec to 5 min difference..

which DVD software you think have a closer time with Ulead from you experience ?

Firstly read http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8962 and take notice.

Secondly, tell us EXACTLY how you are capturing the live TV: what codec, what settings etc.

As it is, you have us totally in the dark.

OK sorry english is not my maternal language, i try to be more concise so

Nature of the problem : when i view a .mpg file with my DVD software player (WinDVD 5 Player Platinium) and take a note where i want to place chapter ( Ex at 15 min, 26 min and 45 min) then when i use the same .mpg on Ulead Movie factory 4 or 5 ( trial version) or even Ulead DVD Workshop 2 (trial version) if i go to 15 min it's not the place i wanted a create a chapter, it can be 16 or 17 min

Properties of your source files (format, file size, where did you get it?) i get it from my Pionner DVD recorder DVR 220 who record Cable Live show from TV, then i put the DVD-RAM on my PC and use Ulead to import the DVD-RAM and i get a .mpg file look info of the file here

What devices are involved and their mode of connection? Pioneer DVD home recorder DVR 220 > NEC ND-4571A > Ulead Movie factory 4 or 5 ( trial version) or even Ulead DVD Workshop 2(trial version) for Import the DVD-RAM > WinDVD 5 Player Platinium

Project Settings : resample quality : Best, PAL/SECAM most of the time, same problem when NTSC

Output format (file, DVD, VCD, SVCD) .mpg

PAL or NTSC Mostly PAL but sometime NTSC

Error Codes (if any) : time i notate on WinDVD 5 Player Platinium don't match with time i see on Ulead product

System information :
Asus A8N-SLI
AMD Athlon 64 3000+
nVidia Ge Force 6600

If I get time tomorrow I'll try this.
I've never watched an mpeg in a software player and checked timings then tried to use those in WS.

I think I may have found something significant. Why are the # of audio frames >> video frames. As MPEG multiplexes the A and V, surely they should be the same?????

I just checked some of my mpeg2 files, which I made with canopus procoder in powerdvd. The times that show up on that, do not match with the times in WS2.

Sorry I don't know the answer, but at least you know you are not alone.

Why watch in powerdvd to make the time notes? Just watch in WS2 and make the chapter point as you need it?

I just got the same idea, watch the file in Ulead to have the good time but i want to see it in full screen mode, is it possible ? ( for Ulead Movie factory 4 or 5 or even Ulead DVD Workshop 2 )

VideoReDo has a tool that's supposed to fix MPEG time codes. Womble has a similar tool.

I don't know if it will help, the free trial of either program might be worth a try.

I've had a few strange problems with corrupt MPEG files. (When I read your first post, I was wondering if you were working with MPEGs.) In my case, the corrupt files always played back OK before making a DVD, so it took me awhile to figure out what the problems was. And, in my case the above programs were not able to repair the bad files, but I discovered that my MPEGs were getting corrupted during editing, and editing with Womble does prevent the file corruption.

Your file corruption probably has a different cause. You didn't say that you were editing the MPEGs. The problem may be with your Poineer DVD recorder.... I don't know....
