reddish tint when slide show running

Post by ronrosenfeld »

The color rendition of the photos looks good. And when I select Theme/Slideshow, and the show is not running but the initial slide is in the preview window, the color looks OK.

However, when I select "Play" and the show starts running, an objectionable pinkish-red tint is seen. This tint will go away if I select "Pause" and return when I select "Play".

The originals are jpg format, in a variety of sizes and resolutions.

What can I do?

Thanks

You are talking in riddles, sorry. Where do you get this tint? On the PC, your TV when played on a DVD player, your mobile phone or iPod?

This sounds a little strange. Please provide as much detail as possible about the slideshow. Your system specifications show your system is up to the task.
The originals are jpg format, in a variety of sizes and resolutions.
Where did the jpg files originate from - your camera, scanner, internet etc.
The tint you mention - is it affecting all or just some of the pictures?
Has this occured before or is this the first time it has happened. I take it you have created files successfully in the past.

Have you tried creating the DVD despite the tint in the preview window?
If not burn it to a hard drive folder and then watch the DVD with a viewer such as PowerDVD, Nero Showtime, Ulead DVD Player or WinDVD.

Having done that - is the tint on the completed DVD.

reddish tint when slide show running

Steve,

Some of the jpg files were sent via email (over the internet), originally taken by a Canon Powershot G3; others were obtained by my Nikon coolpix camera E5400. Some were taken with flash, some with natural light.

The tint seems to involve all of the pictures.

This is the first time I have used this program, so no, I've never created files successfully in the past. I just downloaded and installed the program today.

I haven't burned a DVD yet. We just moved into this house, and, although I've got the computer up and running, I don't have blank DVD media available just yet.

I'm not sure what you mean by "burn it to a hard drive folder". But on the Burn tab, I selected the option to "Create DVD Folder" and I was then able to view the result in InterVideo WinDVD. The pink cast was still present. And on this particular set of slides, I used a different set; from a different folder; and did not apply any particular effects or transitions. I just accepted all the defaults.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Heinz Oz,

Sorry I wasn't clear. I thought you would understand that I was referring to the program that this section is concerned with (CD & DVD Picture show), and that my referring to options that are within the program, in this case Theme/Slideshow, would demonstrate that I was choosing those tabs.

So to avoid "riddles": in more detail: after opening the program "CD & DVD PictureShow" I see three tabs across the top --

Organize | Theme | Burn.

I select the Organize tab and then select a number of images to put into a slide show. These are in folders on my computer with origins as described above.

Next I select the Theme tab from the top of the program window. Once I do this, I see three tabs on the right hand side.

Gallery | Menu | Slideshow

I select the Slideshow tab.

After doing this, on the left hand side of the window is a square window in which the individual slides, transitions and other effects may be previewed. There are buttons at the bottom of the window which control the viewing; one of those buttons can be toggled between Play and Pause. You can tell which effect will occur by the icon on that button, or by hovering your mouse over it.

It is in this window that I see the tint when in the Play mode (after I have clicked on the Play button and it appeared to be depressed). If I then select the same button; which has changed to become a Pause button; the slide show stops progressing, and the tint goes away.

The screen on which this is displayed is a ViewSonic G810 CRT monitor attached to my PC.

I trust that explanation is more clear than my previous shorthand (and I sure hope you have a solution).

My first suspicion is that it is connected to the fact you have just moved house and so obviously moved the computer. It is possible that during the move, slight knocks may have loosened some of the connections inside the computer. Try removing the side of the computer case and pressing all of the connections firmly with your thumbs.

Even though the connections may visually appear to be intact they may need that litle push to restablish a good connection.

If this does not cure the problem, then as you have not previously used the program it may be due to a faulty installation. Try following our reinstallation procedure.

I have noticed that I haven't included the extra information for CD&DVD Picture show in the table - I will do that in a few hours time. I am currently away from my own machine at the moment, and so you may have to wait until later today.

reddish tint when slide show running

Steve,

All my cards (and other connections) are tight. Although I would have thought I'd have other problems than this one if I had a loose connection.

I went through the uninstall-reinstall procedure. Of note is that I did this after performing a clean boot (using msconfig and disabling everything except Microsoft Services). Also, the folder listed at the bottom of the uninstall instructions did not exist after the uninstallation.

I did NOT install the "patch" mentioned in the first message on this BB.

In any event, the problem persists. The pink tint remains when running the slide show simulation; but not when the simulation is "paused". (I did not try to burn another folder this time).

?????

Should I try installing that patch?

Thanks.

Interesting Fix.

I removed and reinstalled the NVidia video driver (same one as had been installed -- no upgrade) and then adjusted the monitor gamma. Pinkish tint during videos only went away.
