I have a project that is 1 hr 36 sec in length. In the timeline I separated the main video into about 12 different segments. I have inserted 3 different transitions (2 sec each) all fade-to-black. I have included some music in various places as background sounds, and about 12 titles (one for each segment). I have a still image in the overlay track in my first segment that last about 30 seconds. There is another still image at the end of the project which I have placed a cropping effect on to slowly isolate one spot on the image as a song plays (about 3 minutes). Again, looking at the timeline, the entire project is exactly 1 hr 36 sec and 19 frames. When I play the project in VS all looks great and works exactly as I expect it to work.
My problem is that when I render the project (create a video file NTSC-DVD 4:3) the time indicated on the resulting file is still 1 hr 36 sec BUT when I play it on any player (Win Media, etc) the time is now stretched to about 2 minutes longer. The timer on the players will actually stop at 1 hr 36 sec but the video and sound keeps on going for 2 minutes longer. If I didn't look at the timer it would appear that everything is OK.
I tried burning this video file to DVD but it will not work properly. The completed DVD ends up with the audio portion complete and correct all the way through. However, the video backtracks itself about 2 minutes half way through the film resulting in the audio and video being 2 minutes out of sync for the second half of the film (audio is 2 minutes ahead of the video).
I have looked at every single segment, every title, every image, every song, and cannot find any errors. Pleas help!

Hi JimBo
And welcome to the forum.
Thats a real good one you have come up with.
Just at the moment i haven't got a clue where to begin.
But to get started some information about the video file will be useful.
Where did you get the video file from?, the properties of the video file may be helpful, as well as the project properties. Post them to the forum.
You indicate Ntsc, just to check, where are you in the world, what does SC stand for?
And just out or interest can you e-mail the Vsp to me
Regards
Trevor

How are you going to the burn module? Are you going straight from your project still in the timeline, or are you following the Recommended Procedure of going from an empty timeline and then inserting your video?

Burning
From experience I found that it is best to first create a video file from the project by itself. Burning directly from the project always locks down or gives some type of error. By creating a video file alone I then have the option of using any burning software to create my DVD from the video file. I personally like Nero because it allows me much more freedom in creating other items like chapters, custom menus, etc. without making any direct changes to the video itself.
