Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus Upgrade Offer
I just received an e-mail offer for Ulead DVD MovieFactory 5 Plus Upgrade. Will this software update the DVD MovieFactory Version 3 that I am now using? Or is it solely and upgrade for an earlier version of DVD MovieFactory Version 5?

Sorry for butting in, but I skipped MF4 and went from MF3 (Disc Creator) to MF5+, so I guess this might explain...
The MF5+ upgrade is an update as far as the price is concerned. But it is a new full installation and does not update your currently installed version.
I uninstalled MF3 before installing MF5+, after backing up the MF3 content. Later I manually integrated some of the old templates, frames, buttons, etc. that were no longer included into the new content.
The upgrade links have all the info about which versions are valid for update.

Thanks Heinz-Oz and Snoops for your feedback. Snoops, when I read the email from Ulead, it said "Exclusive Upgrade Offer ", which led me to believe that it updated an earlier version. But i just went back to the link provided in the email, went to the Ulead site and I see that you are right on the money. It makes no mention of "upgrade". It simply says "Ulead DVD MovieFactory5 Plus", so it is a new installation.snoops wrote:Sorry for butting in, but I skipped MF4 and went from MF3 (Disc Creator) to MF5+, so I guess this might explain...

Snoops, do you have any idea whether or not I could leave MF3 installed when I install MF5+, or do you think there might be file conflicts between the 2 versions? I just thought that it might be easier to integrate some of the old templates, frames, buttons, etc., if MF3 is still installed. Your thoughts? And thanks again for your help.

Thanks for the feedback Heinz Oz. I'll be downloading MF5 + pronto. Thx again!heinz-oz wrote:There shouldn't be any conflicts although I did have some with PI 11 and MF3. Now I have MF 4 and MF 5plus installed.
The upgrade will want to make sure that you have/own a qualifying product, MF 3. You can have it installed or just provide the credentials when asked by the installer.
MF3 and MF5 installed
I didn't bother searching here. But they share libraries und functions in "Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems". This means it is possible/probable that MF3 would benefit from any fixes in the newer modules. It also means that if newer ones are broken, both will be affected.I could leave MF3 installed when I install MF5+
They need to be installed in separate folders of course, and will then have their content in separate places, so the MF installation (3 and 5) will take a lot of space.
Subtle things to be expected: like double-clicking an old MF3 project (.dwz) file will start MF5.
I would make sure to disable any burning-related tools and services (like QuickDrop of MF5) in the old version, or both.
Just ideas. I didn't try it with both installed.
