I just purchased a Sony Digital Video Camcorder Model DCR-SR40 that uses a hard drive to record and stores movies in mpeg format.
I am using Ulead VideoStudio version 8.01.0100 SE DVD to try and edit.
I get no sound during playback. I get sound using Windows Media Player and Real Player so I know sound is there.
If I look at the properties of the video in VideoStudio I get the following results:
Audio Type: Digital Dolby Audio
Attributes: 48000 hz
Layer: None
Bit Rate: 256 kb
Is this version able to handle this type of audio or do I need to upgrade or is there a converter I need to use??
Thanks for the help

Version 8 (and earlier) does not support Dolby without a plug in.
I don't think the plug in is still available for purchase as the current version is 10.
Version 9 and above supports Dolby.
The cost of the plug in was about the same as the cost of an upgrade.
Your choices are.
1. Upgrade to the latest version - here I would suggest 10+ rather than 10 (without the +).
2. Convert the audio with third party software.
