Bug in PI12 - previews of weboptimized pictures with IE7

Post by artie7 »

Hello,

on work I get a very new PC with an Intel Core Duo 6600 and 2GB RAM and an very high quality ASUS Board.

Now with new Installed PI12 it is extremly more short to work as at home :D :D

But I have to found a new bug?

When I try to optimize a picture for web and choose a preview in Browser ( at the moment there is the Internet Explorer 7 ) and I will close the IE7 again (as the preview was well done), then there will be a bug.

After closing the browser (or better try to close) both programs will hang up and could only be closed by Task Manager or process explorer.

Now some details:
I am using Windows XP home at my single working place.
It is for optimizing product photos for web.

So I am using pictures from camera. Open them, then I will cut them to the size I need. ( cut away the parts of Photo I do not need). After that I choose copy photo and paste it again in as an object - because in my experience I found out, that objects could be better optimized for web.

After that I resize the picture for web. F. E. to 400x300 instead of 2400x1800. Now I choose the level of reducing (YUV411) and choose preview - and IE7 opens and show me a preview.

Try to close the browser again will make both programs hang up.

Can you try this out. Hope the Ulead support will read this for constructing a patch.

How did you save your images, Progressive, Standard, Standard Optimised?
Progressive can sometimes cause a problem with some browsers as its implementation is not exactly according to web standards.

For 100% compatability with all browsers it is better to use Standard for jpegs.

Hello Heinz,

no, I choose the most times "standard optimized" - In this case too.

But this problem appears only in combination with a preview in Internet Explorer 7.

I tested it with Firefox and on another PC with IE6 without problems.

Do you already work with the IE7??? Is there anybody working with IE7 who hasn¡¬t this problems with a preview in IE7?
If so, what are the last patches you used to install for XP?
So I can better compare and maybe find the cause.

Hi Artie,

This is probably no help, but I just test PI-12 trying to follow your workflow. I also have IE7 installed. However I can not get any hanging or freezing. I have all the latest patches, fixes applied to Windows XP (home), and PI.

I do have IE7 but, as a rule, only use IE if I have to  They tell me that IE7 is much better than previous versions but I read a lot about people having problems with it.

It's obvious though, if it works in other browser and not in IE7, it must be a PhotoImpact problem and the other browsers are to stupid to realize there is something wrong.   Sorry, only trying to be funny

From the descriptions I would think this is a bug of IE7. However, I also have IE 7 installed and cannot get it to hang...Maybe it would only happen in some special case?
