NEED HELP SPLICING IN VERSION 9
I've got the system down pretty good but just can't figure out how to cut a bad section out of a single clip and then splice the two together so it remains the same, single clip?

Hi Herman, welcome to the forums,
When you are working on a project in VS, the "video clips" in the timeline are not the actual clips. They are thumbnail images, shortcuts pointing to the actual video clips. So when you cut a bad section, it is not cutting the actual clip, just making a note that the "bad" part is not to be included when you lRender your project.
So a simple answer would be, once you have all your editing done, go to Share>Create Video File, and render your project. This will create a new video file, that will have all the edits you have applied, and any bad sections will not be included in this new video file.
You might want to read through From Camcorder to DVD tutorial.
