no video in clip preview

Post by stephenharvey »

Ok, captured my video as avi files, thumbs show up. I try to view them and all I get is black and sound. However if I drag the clip to the timeline and view as project, I can see the "clip" fine. I don't understand this. Help! It has never happend before and is happening on projects that have worked in the past.

Thanks,

Stephen

Hi

Strange

I would start with a 'Repair or Re-install' of the program.

You will lose the library data, which will default to the original library.

What are the properties of your .avi files? Right click on one within Video Studio and copy the Properties here, please. It is possible that they are in fact one of the highly compressed formats like DivX or XVid which use .avi as their carrier format. They often cause problems.

clip prop: MS AVI Open DML, DV encod type 1

will try an reinstall today. however I noticed that the clips play the same way in windows media player. Only quick time seems to be able to play any of my video at the moment, so I think something must have happened to my system.
