Hang on, you just checked and there is an audio out on your camera

Where did you connect the audio cable to on the camera? Having an audio out port does not neccessarily mean that there is audio on that

Did you have your cam connected to the TV once? Was ther audio from this port on your cam?

It may be that your system is not set up to accept any sound from that card either. Check in Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices > Audio Tab which device is listed there for recording.

Make sure your capture device is listed there. If not, select your sound card and use the line in to connect your cam.

Hi heinz -

The cable was connected to the Audio Out on the camera as I had assumed that was what it was suppose to be connected to. There is no other spot to put it. Yes, we have had our video camera connected to the TV before and was able to hear the audio perfectly fine.

Here is my Audio device:

There are no other options.

Also, I have used the Line In from the camcorder to the computer without no sound either.

Ok, that tallies with my expectations. Now, when you connect the sound to your soundcards Audio IN port, these settings are correct. If you want to send the sound via your capture card, this would have to show up as the recording device.

Check the volume settings for both by clicking on the volume button. Make sure the volume is not muted.

Hi -

Both volume control are at their max and are not muted.

I will try the Line In option again now.

So now I have re-installed VideoStudio and have placed the cable from the camcorder to the Line In on the back of my sound card and have also made sure Line In has been selected.

Under the source in VD it says Lifeview WDM Capture Card.

Still no audio.

Can you try another cable? Can you try to play sound into the line in on your card from a different source with a different cable?

Try once more if you do actually get audio out from your camera.

Other than that, I'm stumped.

My husband just hooked the camcorder to the TV using the same cables that I had used in connecting to the computer. Audio was fine!!

Are there any setting in VD that need to be setup other than the Line In stuff?

Check that you have the Windows Volume Control for RECORDING correctly set up. You have to choose the correct input device
There are several including:
Stereo Mix
Mono Mix
Aux
Video
CD Audio
Line In
and a few others, only 1 at a time can be selected
Don't I just need to select Line In from the selection above and none of the others?

By the looks of it, there are three audio connectors on the capture card to the right of the S-Video socket in the picture of the capture card on the box above.

On the next image below, however, the schematic of the connectors, there are just two audio connections - one either side of the S-Video socket.
Which arrangement actually matches your capture card?

Re-read my earlier reply and look for this screen and then make sure the correct one has a tick in it.

Looking at your setup you should find one of the sliders is for LINE IN and I suspect that is the one that needs to be ticked.
