Another try - --

Post by Millygirl »

I don't know but I can't seem to retrieve my postings here!

GOOD THING I HAD COPIED THIS BEFORE EXCITING THE LAST ONE!

Computer
HP Pavilion z320n
120GB
512 RAM -yes, I am upgrading this!

Video Camera
Handycam Vision Video 8 CCD - TRV12 - NTSC

Video Capture Card
Lifeview FlyTV Prime Series 30

In using the software, Ulead VideoStudio Plus 10, I had tried a number of formats including AVI, MPEG, MPG4, and WMV. I still could not hear any sound.

I have my cables setup so that the yellow cable is colour matched from the video camera to the back of my capture card. The black cable is connected to my video camera to the Audio In in the capture card. NOTE: I have also tried having the black cable in the Line In slot in my sound card - still did not hear sound.

I have also adjusted my sound device for selected of either Line In or Video depending on which one I had it plugged into at the time. I have also made sure they were all at top volume.

Is there anything I have missed?

Hi Milly,

you are using an 8mm analog camcorder and are trying to connect through you TV tuner card, right?

Are you using this cable?

You mention a black cable which you connected to your cam, which one is that? I think you are having your connections all wrong. The read and white connector carry the audio signal. If your cam is mono, not stereo, one of the connectors will be missing. If your card is mono, your cable will be missing one plug.

Please advise the details of your connections.

On your other threads, the ones nobody can access, are you trying, by any chance, to link to a large image? There must be something in your post that causes a long download time, causing the server to interrupt. Just a thought...

Heinz -- I don't think you have the correct device. I get quite a different set of individual cables when I go to http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/product ... rime30.htm

Nevertheless, I still think Milly may have one of the cables in the wrong slot. The Camera audio is supposed to be connected via the cable with the red and white RCA connectors to a black stereo plug which goes into the BLUE audio-in connection on the back of the computer. The only fully black cable I can see is the audio-out cable with identical stereo plugs at each end and is connected to the green audio-out socket on the computer.

Milly, can you tell us specifically which cables you are talking about, please?

Hello Heinz!

No I am not using that cable. My cable has on both ends the black and yellow ends as shown in the picture. So in other words in doesn't have the red and white cable nor are they attached to the rounded cable as shown.

Am I using the wrong cable? If so, where am I able to get one of those? I live in Canada.

I see on my capture card I have a spot for S-Video, Audio In, Audio Out, AV, Remote, TV and FM.

On my video camera I have Audio Out and Video Out.

You are of course quite right Ken, should have scrolled down rather than clicking where I clicked

Sorry about the mix up milly, please indicate which cables you did connect where.

I think you should try the yellow from video out on the cam to the video in on the card and the red and white to the audio out of your cam.

Hi -

For one thing my video capture doesn't look like the one shown. I only have a yellow coded plug and not a blue one. But nevertheless I do have the Yellow cable going from my Video Out to the AV In on the capture card and then I have the black cable (which is the 2 standard cables in Canada to use) from the Audio Out to the Audio In on the capture card - as shown except it's a different colour cable.

I have to say that I am even more confused now because my capture card does not look like the one on their site but if I look under my device manager it says "Lifeview FlyTV Prime Series 30". I just got the box out and says nothing about Lifeview on it but there is a photo of the card on it which says TV Capture.

Ok, your device looks different. How many sockets does it have and are these clearly marked?

Are you using

or a different looking cable for the sound?

Can you hear sound when you just play the cam footage on your PC via this device?

Ok. I have scanned the box that it came in.

When I try capturing the video I get no sound and when I play it back I get no sound. Now, everything else will work in the case that if I add music to the video, of course, I have sound but it didn't capture anything from the video in this case.

So has anyone have a suggestion? I have uploaded my capture card above.

Where do you connect the audio on your camera? Are you sure there is audio out on that port?

Yes, I just checked again. There is an audio out on my camera.

Could it be that my capture card is not compatible with Ulead VideoStudio and if so, can you suggest one that is (for an analog video camera).

It is possible that you now have the cables connected correctly and the fault is elsewhere.

Check that you have the Windows Volume Control for RECORDING correctly set up. You have to choose the correct input device
There are several including:
Stereo Mix
Mono Mix
Aux
Video
CD Audio
Line In
and a few others, only 1 at a time can be selected.
here's how to do it in pictures
