I have searched the forum for a similar post but have not found one .. so if I am repeating something thats already here then please forgive me.
I have seen a couple of posts where people were trying to get Videostudio 9 & 10 working with the Creative Audigy video editor .. but have not been able to find a solution on how to do it.... so I started playing around with it.
I have now successfully managed to capture video from my DV camcorder using Videostudio 10 and the Creative video editor. I have tested it using first a firewire input into the Audigy and then using AV (composite) input into the Audigy. The latter means that capturing from a VCR should work but I dont have a VCR at my PC to test this. I have not managed to get the device control part (controlling the DV camera from VS10) working but hope to do so soon. I am planning on documenting the whole process so if anyone else is (still) interested then let me know.

Mario,
Glad to read that you have Creative Audigy working with VideoStudio. I have downloaded a trial version of VideoStudio 10 and haven't been able to get it to recognize my Audigy box. VideoStudio 8 SE is still on my PC and it works fine. I am interested in upgrading to see if my audio/video synch problems on importing a DVD-Video can be solved. Is there a plug-in that is required to get it to see my Audigy box?
Response from anyone else appreciated.

Mario,
Does your DV camcorder have a Firewire port? If so just capture using VS10 directly from your camcorder. Capturing DV via Firewire is actually transferring the data. Not knowing the make/model of your DV camcorder I don't know if it would have pass-through capability. If so you can use it to convert your analogue video from your VCR, to DV, then pass that to your computer. I have a Sony DCR-TRV120, and do it all the time.
Jim,
VS8 was a real buggy version, and was known for it's OOS problems. Since your version VS8SE, came bundled with some hardware, and I'm guessing it was your Creative Audigy. If so your VS8SE was probably tweaked to work with that piece of hardware, and may not work with a more current version.

Your Creative Audigy device will only work with the bundled Ulead applications.

Ron/ploggy,
Thanks for the advice. I did a full update of all the ULead software and drivers using their web based updater. It worked well but took a very very long time ¡V over one hour. The service scanned my system for software and hardware and then downloaded and installed all available updates ¡V over 140 MB.
The Ulead updates included a VidCap. This standalone capture program does recognize my Creative Audigy box.
BYW, as you told me, Ulead¡¦s VideoStudio 10 trial version doesn¡¦t recognize my Audigy box. It reports the capture source as ¡§Unknown -- MSDV¡¨. I, however, could go ahead and capture video input using this unknown source. I chose DVD as the format and it worked fine as far as I can tell. The audio synch was fine even after test editing and converting to a DVD-Video. I tested it using a TV signal from my VHS player connected to my Audigy box.
I plan to upgrade my Ulead products to the latest paid for versions of VideoStudio 10 Plus and MovieFactory 5.
Thanks for the help.
