Stills, slideshow and transitions

Post by moviemunk »

I have had DVD Workshop for a while but have never done a slide show. I tried importing still JPEGs into the program which seemed to work fine. However I cannot create a slideshow which lasts more than on slide and I cannot apply any transitions. In fact, the transition dialog is grayed out. What is up with this? I called tech support and they had no answer.

What version of DVD WS are you running? (1.x, 2.x, Full, SE, Express, etc...)?

In DVD WS 2.x, you cannot add a transition because you only have one picture in the slide show (nothing to transition to). Drag more stills to the filmstrip on the right side of the screen :)

I lined up several pics in a row. Still can't seem to create show or add transition.

Where did you line up the pics? Along the bottom, or along the right-hand side :?: (they should be vertically along the right-hand side of the screen -- assuming DVD WS 2.x)

Or, shift-click to select a range of pictures, and drag them to your timeline along the bottom. (or CTL+Click to select specific pictures, and drag them to the timeline on the bottom).

Ver 2.3

Thanks for the advice on the layout. I was lining them up one by one along bottom like video clips. The instruction is vague but I may have missed it. Anyway, everything working fine. You would think tech support would have mentioned this. Thanks again.

Sadly it seems that tech support these days for most anything we purchase amounts to the first warm body that applies for the job. :( Most of the time they have much less a clue than we do.
