Converting VSP to another format
I have a couple of .VSP files that i found on a back up disk that i cannot play because apparently I need Ulead video studio on my computer which i don't I don't know which program, probably one that came with my logitec computer camera years ago. 1999 at least. I would like to be able to recover these files because they are video of my families Christmas right before my son died in Jan. can't someone give me some advice?

I am afraid that they are probably useless to you. They are project files (Video Studio Project = VSP) and are not actually video files. As you will see they are small, and in effect are only a road map, telling the program what video files were included in the project, where they are located on your computer and what editing has been done to them. But unless you still have the relevant video files, the VSP files are not capable of putting anything together. Sorry.

It is irrelevant here, Heinz, but just for completion of answer, this is not 100% true.
With the relink function VS would ask for the location of each clip upon loading, so they need to be the same duration, but NOT necessarily the same location, format (AVI or MPG) or name.
Moot point, since the OP hasn't access to VS now and the files are even maybe impossible to locate.

This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

Hi
Unfortunately I have also to agree with the replies.
The Vsp¡¦s are only a project file and as such only contain links to files on your hard drive.
If you were to open the VSP in Video Studio, you would be prompted to re-link to those files. The name and previous location, being displayed in the re-link window.
This would give you a clue as to the name and type of files being used in the project.
If by any chance you have not deleted them, you may be able to relocate them.
Downloading the trial version VS 10, will allow you to open the projects.
Other than that e-mail the VSP¡¦s and I will have a look at the contents.
Good Luck
Trevor

Re: Converting VSP to another format
The .vsp files are not really necessary. You could try to locate the video files by using the Search feature in Windows Explorer. Search on "*.avi" or "*.mpg". (The "*" is a wild card match.)Timincal wrote:I have a couple of .VSP files that i found on a back up disk that i cannot play because apparently I need Ulead video studio on my computer ...

I happily stand corrected on that one, one never stops learning. Should have known that because once I had this happening with a slide show. After relinking (didn't pay much attention) I had images in there that didn't belong.
