Post by Arnie »

Can the files from a JVC Harddisk recorder be edited in MSP8?

I should have mentioned: JVC HD Camcorders specifically.

I did not look up the specs on your cam, but most hardD HD cams that i know of run on a AVCHD format which MSP as well as most other editors will not support at this time. You have to use the manufacturers supplied software to convert it to mpg.... or at least to a M2T or M2V/WAV as there are some editors that can deal with this

If by the off chance your cam is mpeg based then there is no reason why msp can not deal with it.

JVC in fact uses mpg files but with the .mod extension. Just rename those files with a batch convert program to .mpg and you're ready to go.

I use "file renamer" for this. Freeware and very usefull so I made a donation.
