MF4SE upgrade support to MF5/MF5+?

Post by millerj »

I am currently running MovieFactory 4 SE that came with my capture card. Is the MovieFactory 5/5 Plus product upgrade package supported from 4 SE, or do I need to buy the full version? The reason I ask is that I do not specifically see 4 SE listed under the supported product upgrade list.

Thanks,
Joe

I see what you mean, no MF4SE, however it does list MF3SE. I wonder if this is a typo? Why would Ulead allow an older SE version, and not 4SE?

You could attempt to purchase the upgrade. You will be prompted for the serial number of your current (DMF4SE) product. Enter the serial number, if it accepts it, then it was a typo, if not then another one of Ulead's strange behaviors.. :?

I have passed this onto Ulead for clarification/correction.
I have also reported the fact their website is currently running at a snails pace.

Thanks for the info.
Yes, the speed of our website is slow, we will improve it.
According this question, do you know which capture did user have? As I know, MovieFactory 5 and 5 plus don't support some capture card even 4SE can support it.
If user will buy DMF5, he has to download patch, then he can use capture card like Hauppauge.
Please take a look here:

About DMF4 Se upgrade to DMF5, I think it lacks this info on the website, I will inform PM to correct it. thanks.

Hi,
Would you please ask the user to key in his serial number in below link and click "Submit" ?
If can upgrade, then it will continue the process.
If not, then our website will prompt him/her a message.

Regards,
Eric

Thanks everyone.

Using the serial number from my MF4SE CD, I am able to add the MF5+ upgrade successfully to the cart, so appears the upgrade is supported.

Regarding the capture card that I am using, from Device Manager it indicates a KWorld PVR 883 Video Capture (Conexant driver), and MF4SE lists the source as a Conexant 2388x Video Capture. I don't see anything specific to that in the MF5 compability list. Appreciate if someone could verify that is supported through MF5, as it is working very well through MF4SE now and would hate to lose it. Let me know if more information is needed.

Thanks again,
Joe
