Can't get audio to work!!

Post by milly »

I have went through all the faq suggestions - everything is hooked up fine and so is the sound card controls etc. I can't seem to fill out a form either for customer service because no forms are on the webpage! Nothing like great service!

So if anyone has any suggestions please advice since I have paid for this and feel like I have just thrown away over a $100. I had tried the trial version without any problems and so now bought the full version and cannot seem to hear any audio.

Please tell us how you are capturing your video. What exactly is "hookup up fine"?

BTW, you must be a registered user in order to obtain the support form.

Hi -

I am a registered user and just bought the software.

I have a Sony Handycam Vision NTSC Video 8 hooked up to my video capture card. First I tried hooking the video camera'a audio out to the capture card audio in (which worked before!) but nothing worked and then I tried hooking it up to the linein which I had to go in and change the audio to be setup as Line in rather than Video. I have gone through all of the steps as indicated but it still won't work.

Also, have NVIDIA(R) nForce Audio Codec.

I am a beginner so I don't know a lot of the technical stuff but I can read directions and figure things out most of the time! Like I said, everything was working fine when I had downloaded the trial version.

In the capture screen under the audio capturing properties you may have to select "USE PCI AUDIO", it's depends on your software capturing drivers.
The Line In on the sound card is routed to the wav out. I'm pretty sure to adjust the recording volume for the "Use Pci Audio" you adjust the "Wav Record" or "Pcm" or similiar. Also the line in may need to be adjusted, depends, you have to play with the mixer settings because all sound cards have different features/drivers.
When "Use Pci Audio" is selected you may also have to mute one of the mixer controls so eliminate echoing or delays.
.
There is no BEST. It's what works BEST for you.

I can't seem to find "Use PCI Audio" anywhere.

Under Capture, I have my format on WMV. Is it located under "Options" and if so where? Sorry, I have been clicking here and there and can't find this selection. If you could tell me specifically where I can locate this that would be great!

Can anyone suggest anything?? Does customer service EVER get back to you here? This is so frustrating.

Maddrummer was only suggesting that, depending on your capture card and its drivers, you might have had this option. I guess you don't.

But the more basic question is: what exactly is your capture card or device? And does it have the latest drivers installed?

As for customer service, depending on what part of the world you live in, who gets the form, and what day it is, response from them can be speedy to non-existent; and from helpful to bland ("reinstall"). That is one of the main reasons for the existence of this Board!

Another question: do you have a digital video camera, as well as the analogue Sony? If so, have you checked to see whether the digital camera can be used as a passthrough device i.e. to connect the analogue camera to it, and then connect the digital video camera to your computer via Firewire. That way you can capture your analogue signal to high quality digital DV format... The question about passthrough will be in your digital camera manual, possibly under Dubbing or even Passthrough...

Hi -

My capture card is called Lifeview FlyTV Prime 30.

I have gone to their website and updated the drivers but it still doesn't work! Customer Service has yet to get back to me (if they do!) If I knew that the customer service was so bad I would have never purchased anything from them. Forum or not they need to solve their customer complaints and problems! Customer service say it all!

Did you ever receive a reply from Ulead tech support? As a matter of fact, they send out an automated response when you lodge a help ticket. If you didn't get that, chances are your ISP or your own settings are filtering out emails from Ulead as spam. I would look into that before I claim that the support stinks. I have had a number of help tickets with them over the years and always received a reply. Many mails I had to retrieve from my blk mail folder on yahoo though.

I did not receive an authomatic response. I don't have a hotmail or yahoo account either. I did, however, checked my Norton spam box and nothing was there either.

It has been just frustrating overall trying to get the sound to work. I have updated drivers, checked and rechecked cables, options etc. I just don't know what else to do. I can't say I am an expert at this but I if anyone can suggest anything I will surely try it!

I think we have gone as far as we can get without your system details. There is something in your particular set up that's causing this. Now. what is your set up?

Please go to this post
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8959 and follow through with the instructions given, fill in your system details as well and we shall see....

Just regarding tech support, did you actually go to the Members Log-in section at http://www.ulead.com.tw/ulead/member/me ... FS=US&pg=3

You have to do that before you can lodge a form for tech support. Once you are logged in as a registered member, then on the first page which appears you will about half way down the blue list, 'Online technical support'. Click that and then choose your registered product and click on it. The technical form should then appear.

I notice otherwise you are trying to capture to WMV format. Is there any specific reason for that? Have you tried to use Windows Movie Maker to capture in WMV as well. If so, is there any audio?

Have you tried capturing to mpeg-2 (or even 1) instead of WMV? If so, what was the result?

Did the capture card come with any of its own software? (I cannot find any reference to accompanying software on the Animation Technologies website.) If so, can you capture audio with that? (I used to have a Winfast DV2000 TV capture card which looks similar to yours and had essentially identical connections. I tended to use the software which came with it to capture and would then import that captured video to VS for editing. This was because the accompanying software was not only tweaked for the card, but offered more set-up options.)

Hello Ken & Heinz -

I did register and signed in as a member because that was the only way for the software that I had bought to show up in the list. I then clicked on the product which took me to a form which I had filled out in detail and submitted. I didn't receive a confirmation or anything.

Here are my specs: Let me know if I need to provide more.

Computer:
HP Pavilion a320n
120GB hard drive

Video Camera:
SONY Handycam Vision - CCD-TRV12 NTSC Video 8

Capture Card:
Lifeview FlyTV Prime 30

Updated the above driver from here:
http://www.lifeview.com.tw/html/downloa ... eries.htm

Sound Card:
NVIDIA nForce Audeo Codec Interface

Software:
Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus

I have my video camera hooked into the capture card with the yellow cable ends matching colour coded inserts while the black cable coming from my camera is hooked into the Audio In in the capture card. I have also tried having the black cable hooked into the sound card as well (Line in).

While in the software, I have tried the format being on WMV, MPEG, MP4 and AVI to no avail.

I have also make sure that the sound device is corresponding to where the cables are placed - for example, Video is selected if the black cable is going into the capture card and have tried selecting Line In when the cable goes to the sound card.

If you think of anything else I should be providing here let me know!
