Adding a Graphic

Post by Marjorie13 »

Hello,

New user here. I have used a picture as the background on a project. I want to superimpose another picture on top of it. I am using the import graphic tool, and even managed to convert my jpeg image (it's a book cover) into EMF format, which the tool says it can accept. However it won't.

So I used the jpg as the 'background' inside of the editor and click ok... nothing shows up. I inserted it as an image thingy (industry term? lol) and it does this vetor thing, and then only a black outline rendering of the picture shows up.

Help? At this time, the brain is mush and I don't even know if I make any sense.

Hi Marjorie,
try this... first start a new project to play with.
Make sure View -> Attribute Toolbar is not disabled.

Select Backgrounds in Studio of the Palette.
Load and use a normal image file for the background.

Edit -> Insert graphics.
Draw a rectangle from the center (or whatever shape you like) and hit OK.

Now select Texture in Object Style of the Palette.
Load your image file to use as the texture for the shape that is currently selected.

Adjust the texture mapping in the attribute toolbar so you don't see tiles but the image just once: wrap mode = flat, position it and then resize it.

You may need to adjust ambient and surface lighting (to white) to get the desired colors of your image to show correctly.

Anyway, now you have the 2nd image superimposed, and you can freely rotate it or make it do anything Cool3D offers. Adjust the bevel if you want less/more thickness of your shape when it is seen at an angle.
