Anyone have any idea how to get past this, annoying as h*ll!
I believe this happens because of Ulead VS links to files that are in library ( you know right side of the screen) but that have been deleted from hard drive.
You can't right click on file and delete it because thta error message comes right away.
Reinstalling doesn't work either as VS seems to remember the location of files.
Any ideas, I'd be very pleased if someone could help!

How to Get Rid of Load From Stream Error Without Losing Your Library
If you don’t want to lose all your custom directories or the pointers to all your video, image, audio, and titles, do the following: (Note: The file system path is valid for Windows XP Home. If you have another operating system, the file system path may be different.)
1. Save the contents of the following directory in a Temporary directory: C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\8.0
2. Delete the 8.0 directory.
3. Uninstall Video Studio 8.
4. Install Video Studio 8.
5. Restore your custom Library directories and pointers to your clips as follows: Copy the following files from your saved directory “8.0”:
VS_Video.dat,
VS_Title.dat,
VS_Image.dat, and
VS_Audio.dat
and paste them into
C:\Documents and Settings\<USER>\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\8.0.
IMHO, the way to prevent this problem in the future is to turn off Write Caching (when editing with Video Studio) as follows: Control Panel/System/Hardware tab/Device Manager/{double click on a disk drive to open Properties window}/Policies tab/{uncheck “Enable Write caching on the disk”

Didn't work that one... have XP Pro though. Deleted 7.0 dir in mMy documents, uninstalled, booted and installed. Still those damn already deleted files haunt me. Installed it even on different hard disk so it might have something to do with registry, however didn't find anything from there. It is in there when installed but not when unistalled. Still it remembers my product ker when installing so there must be something somewher...
Damn, should make something for Christmas for my friends who live abroad. It's still possible to use program but veeery slow and annoying
I have no need to save the files in my library, just want that

I'm sure that in the past in order to clear that error it was also necessary to delete the folder "C:\Documents and Settings\ALL USERS\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio\8.0 " not just the USER path before re-installing.
I would also recommend running a registry clean up programme after un-installing and before re-installing.

Tried that too.
I suppose I missed some registry settings as the key still was there after I uninstalled and run jv16 to clean registry.
Nothing, still that same error. This is hopeless...
Wouldn't like to reinstall windows or anything like that as I that totally sucks.
<edit>
Found this one, doesn't help that much either:
1. Erase the contents of C:\Windows(Winnt)\Temp directory.
2. Uninstall VideoStudio 6 from your computer. Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
3. Re-install VideoStudio 6.
4. Download the VideoStudio 6.02 Update Patch including CD/DVD Burning Patch from our Web site at http://www.ulead.com/tech/vs/vs_ftp.htm.

Have you tried this:
1) Clean up C:\Windows\temp directory. Clean up all files in C:\Documents and
Settings\[UserName]\Local Settings\Temp folder. Uninstall VideoStudio 8 from
control panel Add/Remove programs.
2) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in
C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information (Please set "Show hidden
files and folders." in folder option in OS)
3) Delete the folder " Ulead VideoStudio 8.0" folder in C:\program
files\ulead system
4) Run Regedit from Start/Run in Windows task bar
5) Delete folder {4F1DA6BF-3614-48A1-9970-9E90F646789E} in

load from stream error still there
FWIW, I have been having the Load from Stream Error for over a year now (since 2 months after buying v7). Followed all the suggestions listed in this thread, patched, and scoured the registry before reload. Nothing has ever worked. But in the past, I could get past the error by clicking OK, and everything worked after that. Now, I get the error again when I load a project, and when I click OK, the libraries (transitions, etc) all disappear. Did a full scrub and reinstall again, the libraries came back for a minute or two, then disappeared again. I've had it with this program... thinking of trying Sony's Vegas Movie Studio... anyone out there tried that one?
