Unfortunately your trick dnot working for me, because I create menu-motion-background which is 41 second long and initiate of this video-stream is 20 sec. without any buttons, but after this 20 sec. comming 5 (five) Text-buttons like: Play Movie, Scene selection, Audio selection, Movie trailers, and Biography

this text-buttons started together at the beginning and its looks very poor and very unprofessional, I only would like that my text-buttons will appear after 20 sec., how can i do that?

Thanks in advance
Robi
Hi Robi,

The menu you described is different than the topic of this thread (changing the start of a loop in a thumbnail/button), that's why it does not work for you...

In addition to the menu-transition approach that has been suggested, here's another approach:

1) Create your menu background, but make sure it includes the text you want as the menu buttons (you can fade in the text over your menu background at the appropriate time -- 20-seconds seems like a long wait, but that's up to you).

2) since the beginning of your menu does not have the text (because the text fades in after "x" seconds), you should create a smaller clip of about the last 5 seconds of your motion background (you need to see the text to help you setup your buttons). Alternatively, you can save an image of your motion background (text showing), but you might have to resize it to 768x576 (dimensions DWS uses for menu stills).

3) In your project, load the shorter clip to your menu. Now use one of the object bullets (square maybe), and place it over one of the text items (Resize the object to cover the text appropriately). Load the title/chapter into the button's playlist. Use a highlight image for the button (maybe a checkmark to the right or left of the text item). Then make the button "Style" be Invisible Button. Repeat this for all the buttons (text on the menu background).

4) Now drag your REAL motion background to the menu (the longer version of the menu -- it will replace the shorter background).

5) Change the LOOP POINT to be after the text fades in (depends on when you did the fade-in for your text items).

Now your menu should play, the text will fade in, then the buttons will become active at your "Loop Point" setting. The Button Highlight is what will show as you navigate the menu buttons.

Hi Robi,

Glad that worked :)

How many Highlight Images did your version of DVDWS come with? Some versions of DVDWS 2.x come with a different amount, but I have 65 Highlight Images in my library (In the MENU Step, Using the BUTTON tab, and then half way down the screen I click the pulldown menu to show me the Highlight Image - General library).

I just made a highlight image using Photoshop. I started with an 80x80pixel picture (transparent background). Then added my highlight image, and saved it as a GIF file (black and white). I was then able to import it into the Highlight Images library in DVDWS2.x (there are other picture formats it can import), and it seemed to work ok :)

George
