video flicker
When i create a video file in vs9 i always have a problem when i insert a still photo in it - when played back it always ''flickers''. This is also the case when i burn a dvd & play it back on the tv. Can anyone help?

Can we assume that when you are talking about a flickering DVD, you are talking about one with the still images you mentioned in the first sentence?
In any case, have you applied the anti-flickering filter? After you have finished editing and you are going to produce your DVD-compliant mpeg-2 file of your project (Share > Create Video File > DVD), then select Options in the dialogue box which appears (where you give the mpeg-2 a name). In the new box which then appears, right at the bottom is the anti-flickering filter which by default is not checked. Check it.

You will find that, when you insert high resolution still images into a video project, regardless of which program you use to edit, many of the images will display a flicker. This is more obvious in areas of high detail/horizontal lines in the still image.
It is caused by the interlacing of the video fields and shows up more if the detail is very small. It can be overcome by introducing a small vertical motion blurr to your image. Usually 1 or 2 pixels will be sufficient.
Unfortunately, VS does not offer such a setting. You will need to use an image editing program like PhotoImpact for that.

You may also try my antiflicker filter:
http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... ntiflicker
or go to d4to.***/antiflicker
It works better than gaussian or vertical blur. There are two versions
- standalone program for bulk processing of photos (they must be prepared in 720x576 or NTSC formats)
- video filter for UMS (I hope it also works in VS)
