What is the format of the videos that your digital camera records.
VideoStudio can handle a wide range of formats, if however the format from your digital camera is one of the few it cannot handle then there are several FREE converters available.
If you need a converter then you can do a search on Google or view our
Links to FREE stuff
Also - NO you will not need a special computer - if it is capable of running VideoStudio it is capable of dealing with whatever your digital camera video format will be.

Maybe
It depends on the format of the video from the Digital still camera. If it is .MOV (m-jpeg), which most still cameras are, then you wont have any sound when edited and composed using Video Studio 10 (or 10+). See the reply I received from Tech Support below.
Ulead is aware of the MOV problem in VS10 when redering to any video file format. The patch you are talking about should work only for VS9. Not for VS10. The only solution to this problem at the moment is to reconvert the mov file using Quicktime Pro and then edit it in VS10. It seems to be that Quicktime pro re-compress the file format and make it compatible. Make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime in your computer as well. We have tested your file and some other that we have here and they only play fine in VS9 with the patch.

I am importing video from a Panasonic FX07 Digital Camera into VS10+. The format is 848X480 Apple Photo-JPEG (.MOV). The imported video plays fine in the VS10+ Edit screen from the library. However after dropping the video on the timeline and then re-encoding it with the share tab > Create Video File, there is either no audio at all or only noise in the created video file. It does not seem to matter what output format I choose. The video portion works well - just bad audio.
I am including, as an attachment, a 2 sec .MOV clip from the camera with which you should be able to duplicate the problem - per tech support instructions that I received over the phone.
I have an open Case #50411 which I received an e-mail with instructions to download the following patch and save it to "C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio 9.0\VIO" directory.
ftp://userdl:guest@ftpph.ulead.com/uvqt.v io
I did this (twice) but it makes no difference to this problem.
I cannot reply to the e-mail because Outlook doesn't seem to like the text input or the submit function in the e-mail .
Please advise if I can provide any further information.

Isn't that a bit rush? How do your findings compare with these http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... 1727#91727rfodor wrote:It depends on the format of the video from the Digital still camera. Just because it doesn't work on your system doesn't mean much at all as many of us have found out.
There must be some conflict on your system that's causing this.
All you have achieved is to scare off a novice.

Bit of a rush?
I'm sorry if it isn't clear but the 2nd paragraph is the answer fron Ulead support about .mov files losing sound when rendered. Ulead fixed the problem with the patch that is referenced but that only works with VS9. There is no fix (yet) for VS10+.
I'm not sure what I am supposed to learn from the rather lengthy thread that you both referenced.... It is talking about Movie Factory 5 not VS10+.

Try converting your mov file beforehand to MPEG2. there are a number of converters available. Take a look through our links to FREE stuff or do a search using Google.

Re: Bit of a rush?
Using VS10 + I am able to edit and render MOV files, that came from my digital still camera, without loosing the audio. Just to double check I just completed one. However keep in mind I'm using a Kodak, that uses the MJPEG codec.rfodor wrote:I'm sorry if it isn't clear but the 2nd paragraph is the answer fron Ulead support about .mov files losing sound when rendered. SOLVED!!!!!
I had the same problem with my Panasonic FX01 and VS10.
First it worked and a few months later it didn't anymore.
I solved it by installing Quicktime alternative 1.47, now everything works perfect! I guess the codecs distributed with that pack do the trick.
Later versions give problems with the sound.
Quicktime Alternative 1.47 is a free program. Just search for it on the internet.
Good luck!
(quicktimealt147.exe)
