Photo Image Distorted on TV

Post by monkeytastic »

First off, Great editor - have used a few but often go back to this :D

At the moment I'm working on a project which contains photos on the title sequence. I've scaled these down and put each onto a 720 x 576 background but the right vertical side of the image always has a slight bend so it appears as a semi circle. Any ideas?

Sounds like it's a line scan deflection coil setting of the TV setting. This is always a bit of a tricky one, especially with short neck flat screen CRTs. Just imagine the convolutions of the electron beam to reach the corners without colour fringes. There have been enormous strides made with magnetic lenses for electron beams over the last 2 or 3 decades, but there is always a compromise.

ok, the pics that are in portrait mode - more blank/black either side are fine - it's the landscape pics which have the bend/distortion - I guess I could scale them down more but this would lessen the viewable size which I didn't really want to do.

I thought one should resize images to be used in video to 768*576 rather than to 720*576

The OP is not complaining about changes in aspect ratio but curvature of the image due to distortion in the electron gun optics.

The latest version of of MediaStudioPro and it's most expensive competitor, AFAIK, do not yet ship with output modifications to offset TV faults, sorry.
