Editing Theme Page

Post by battm »

I have burned a DVD of China but the first thing you see is this incredibly tacky baby theme page that I was not able to remove or edit to my satisfaction. I have a background picture and type edited properly, but the buttons are still these dumb flowers from the template and I can't find a place to edit the buttons. I want a blank screen with simple buttons and my own background pic. "Edit" seems to be very limited. Any suggestions about how you start with a blank page vs a pre-fab theme. I am still able to edit the video and want to fix this problem.

Rather than designing your menu from scratch you have to work backwards. Here's the workaround. When you're ready to create your menu, locate and choose one of Picture Show's menu themes that best suits the visual style of navigation controls (buttons, thumbnail frames, etc) you prefer. Then change the background image. The navigation objects will be retained with the new background.

If you need more design control you might look into "MovieFactory 5 Plus" and/or "VideoStudio 10 Plus". Trial versions are available and can co-exist on the same PC with PictureShow.

Thanks, Mike. Actually, that's what I ended up doing but it wasn't a look I really would have chosen. I'll check on the other products that you mentioned. I even looked in my old version of PS2 and there were nicer choices there for subjects like "Travel" or "Vacation", but I wasn't sure I could figure out how to move them over to PS4 so I gave up.

If anyone from Ulead is reading, maybe a good idea would be to provide a few "blank" or "generic" choices that could be modified for people who don't want the cheesy menus that are on PS4.

You can copy and paste your templates from other versions or products to the same directories as your current version of CD & DVD Picture Show.

Thanks to you (and others) for your helpful replies. I appreciate the fact the you all are willing to share your knowledge (the equivalent of a doctorate from the School of Trial and Error, no doubt). -- it just makes doing slideshows more fun and produces a better product. I'm not the village idiot but I know that I don't have the ability to discern what you have about this product.

Look like I have the same theme issue. The themes don't show up in the right hand pane like they should. I've installed the software on two different computers and the themes don't appear. If I select any of the drop down options nothing changes and the default (flowers) theme remains. Unbelievable that such oversights make it into a commercial product.
