K I don't know what it's called or how to do it. Let me explain.
This guy was in color then a flash of white then it turned him black and white. but certain parts of him (eyes nose) were white and you can make him out.
also another effect was with color i think. It looked like the picture was being sucked out the screen while a color flash was going on .
How do I do this effect?

a. the clip should best be one with a solid background, preferrably white or a light color.
b. place the clip in the overlay track and apply the Emboss and Monochrome filters in that order. Set Emboss to level 1.
c. apply the Overlay Options Chroma Key, select the background and set a Similarity of ~35 for starters. Play with it.
d. the flash can be as simple as a white color clip a few frames long inserted into a cut in the original clip. A background clip on the main track finishes it off.
That's about it for the standard tools.

FX/Funnel transition to a black color clip with a white color clip overlay a few frames long. That or Boris Factory also has some good funnel transitions.

Dear dabear, if you have any graphic software lile photoimpact or photoshop you may try this;
1-) open the video clip in the video capture and save the each frames as image file ( jpeg or other formats that msp supports)
2-) then open them in graphic software. cut the parts ( this means extract filter) of colored or gray scaled frames. delete out of the selections. but do not forget; never change the place of the image, do not move anywhere. after this save these as with alpha key.
3-) open the video editor and insert your video clip. then insert the images that you extracted to overlay tracks. place them correctly for your video. after you did this render the video.
4-) for the flash effect, insert your new video and define the by-pass from original video to effected video. then cut it with scissor tool. overlap them and define flashback transition effect.
that's all...
