What is the advantage of more overlay tracks in 10?
Could someone give me an example what you would put in
the overlay tracks that you could not do in VS9?
thinking about a purchase but not sure yet..

It lets you layer graphics and video much as you would image layers in an image editor, so one example would be overlaying a bluescreen (or three or...) on the background video then applying a title or lower third (or both) or PiP's (picture in picture, like in the news) over both. Lower third = those graphics covering the bottom of the screen during the news. You're only limited by your imagination and the number of tracks.
To show you how far this can be taken;
in MediaStudio Pro 8 we have 99 video tracks and 99 audio tracks per timeline and multiple timelines at that. Each daughter timeline can then be used as a 'virtual clip' on the other timelines.
This nesting of timelines allows for very complex projects, but it also allows us to create custom segues in the Smart Compositor.
Yes; I use the multiple timelines and deep track counts often, even daily.
