Preview Screen and Progress Bar Freezes

Post by Phil S »

During rendering of quite a large project (1.5 hours) to MPEG 2 the preview screen froze at certain points and the progress bar showed incorrectly compared with the % indication. eg. progress bar half way but showing 75%.

I thought at first something was amiss but as my hard disk light was merrily flashing away I left it alone and eventually it finished.

The result: a perfectly rendered MPEG 2 file.

Has anyone else had the preview screen and progress bar stopping or showing incorrectly. This has only happened on large videos (1 Hr +). Is it a bug?

Not to bothered as my video was good but it is rather disconcerting and doesn't give you a proper guide as to where you are.

What other programs are running during your render? Rendering a file that size with Virus scan running for example could cause that issue. If it worries you, create a video editing profile on your system which will disable all unnecessary programs during your capture/render/burn.

Yes my Virus Program (AVG) was running, plus Windows Firewall and Defender.

I'll try what you suggest and see next time. Thanks
