Okay yesterday I bought the Sony HDR-HC3. I think I am crazy.
Anyways, I printed and followed JC Hunter's tutorial on capturing to the "T". The video plays smoothly in "clip mode" and a bit jumpy in the "project mode". It is not real bad, but frustrating since the camera isn't cheap. I do not want to burn a DVD that looks a bit jumpy. If this whole HDV thing is a pain, then I am going to return it! My friend's Panasonic PVGS 300 worked great maybe I should buy that one instead and save a lot more $.
Any suggestions?
I have 2004 Dell 8400 series, 3.4GHZ, 2GB DDR2 SDRAM @400MHZ, ATI Radeon 1300 pro 256MB, 160gb NCQ serial ATA harddrive 7200 RPM.
still a little jumpy!

Hi Sunshinegirl690,
This has been asked, and explained numerous times....
Previewing your video in VS is not going to be what the finished product will be like. It is not a rendered, final, pristine video. VS is putting all the information (edits, cuts, filters, effects, titles, overlays, images, and audio) together On The Fly. This is a real demanding task for a PC, even for the more powerful ones. Previewing is just an idea of what all those things will be in the finished product. In otherwords, what your PIP will be look like ontop of your video clip, or what your title will look like...
