Improving skin (toning down spots)

Nature of the problem
I have photo of someone with quite red spots (acne). I don't want to airbrush them all out but I would like to reduce their redness. I tried "Beautify skin" but it didn't seem to change them noticeably. I figure this should be somethgin quite and easy to do (must be a quite a common problem). Any suggestions? Thanks!
