hi,
i paste an image in my canvas as an object. i want to crop it. is it possible? i tried it without success.
how may i shortcut this problem

Your correct, that when you paste an image then try to crop, PI will crop, including the background, or it will crop the background to match the pasted image (object) size.
A possible workaround...
Another way would be, with your existing PI document still open, just open your image, crop it, then choose Copy. Go to your original image/document, and select Edit>Paste as Object. Now your cropped image will be pasted as a new object, that you can position where you want it.
Hope that helps... (The second method would be the quickest way to the same results as the first...

- Open your image in PI.
- Crop the image
- Select>All (CTL + A)
- Make sure you Do Not have Preserve Base Image selected
- Convert to Object
- Go to Adjust>Expand Canvas. Fill in the size to expand, on all sides, which would equal the total size of the canvas you want to work with. For example if your cropped image size is 200px, and the total size of your canvas is to be 1024 x whatever, then use an expanded size of 1024 - 200 = 824.
