Ulead PhotoImpact 12 v Adobe Photoshop cs2 9.0

Post by Wrighty_02safc »

Hiya all, I am new to this forum, I have just bought Ulead PhotoImpact 12 Because as I always & use to use Adobe Photoshop all the time for ie signatures in forums, avators & making wallpapers. But the reason why I got rid of Adobe Photoshop cs2 9.0 is because the application programme kept on hanging everytime i done something from saving, loading a pic, to selecting an option like paintbrush Photoshop always hung on me.

Anyway the reason why I post this is because i want to know can i still be able 2 install me plugins i use 2 use in photoshop in PhotoImpact? & can I still make avators, signatures & wallpapers like the quality i did in adobe photoshop? I hope you can help & hopefully send me some links to sum plugins i can download.

Regards.

Paul.

Hi Paul, welcome to our forums. In PI 12 you can do all the things you did in PS, the approach is different though. I would recommend the PhotoImpact Beginners Workshop you can get here http://www.pircnet.com/.

The workshop is free and you will also find a lot of useful tutorials there. PS plugins generally work with PI but the newer ones, written for CS often don't. It's a bit of trial and error. When you follow the link above, you will also find tutorials about how to get PS plugins to work with PI as well as some PS tuts converted for PI.

I'm sure you'll find all you need and more there.

As for the reasons why PS gave you so much trouble, I fear these may be hardware related and may crop up again with PI. Hopefully not though. If they do, come back here with your system details (enter these in your profile) and a description of what happened when you were doing what. I'm sure there will be plenty of help around.

Although you now own PhotoImpact you're Adobe Photoshop is still a useful item and you will find some things are better done in Photoshop and some things are better done in PhotoImpact. You now have the best of both worlds.

There is a plug in for photoshop that allows you to disable 'unused plug-ins'
I think its found here
http://www.thepluginsite.com/

Welcome to our Ulead forum and we hope you enjoy your new product.
