Poor Audio Quality

Post by kiwiinnz »

Hi

I have a audio problem when loading an mpg slideshow file created video studio 10+ into dvd workstation 2 , the sound a very distorted and jittery. The sound quailty is fine when i play it in Video Studio

When i regenerate the file as an avi audio is good however the size is 3 times that of an mpg and will not fit on a DVD.

I have installed the latest patches

Seems i am missing something any ideas or help appreciated

Thanks

What's the audio format? PCM (WAV) is generally the best. MP3s sometimes cause trouble. (It is possible for an AVI video file to carry MP3 audio.) In general, the more-compressed files cause more trouble. The same is true with video. 13GB per hour DV files rarely cause trouble, but DivX and Xvid cause lots of trouble.

You might try setting the volume (on the Audio tab) to 75%. I've noticed distortion when converting from MPEG-2 audio to Dolby, and this seems to correct it. I don't think I've experienced what you are calling "jittery"... That actually might be the result of a corrupt file being re-coded.

If your audio is already Dolby or LPCM, un-check the box that says Convert To Disc Template (again, on the Audio tab) and your audio should not be altered.

If you feed Workshop an AVI/DV file, Workshop will automatically convert that AVI to DVD compatible MPEG-2. This is actually a very common procedure... Feed Workshop an AVI/DV file from a camcorder, and let Workshop make a regular DVD out of it. (Video DVDs have VOB files which contain MPEG-2 encoded video.)
