DVD -VR recording

Post by skier-hughes »

I have a trial version of MF5, in order to make this -VR disc to leave open.

I normally work with WS2.

I don't seem to have the same options/buttons etc as the tutorials on the site, although the VR recording one is for MF4, as they haven't changed it, I assumed it would be similar.

I don't appear to have a disc creator option as described in the tutorial

I am also stuck with the menus, only appear to be able to use smartscene ones, which make menu's too large for VR recording - they have to be below 30mb.

Where do I find a menu to make myself, as in WS, or can't I?

Any help tonight would be great, as I'm supposed to be with a company tomorrow to trial vr duplicating, but I can't seem to make an open disc witha menu and some short videos already on it, ready to be recorded to again later.

Cheers,

Graham
Off to see if I can find a pdf manual to look at.

Thanks for that info. I didn't realise you couldn't have a menu with -VR.

I've made a +VR disc on a -RW disc, didn't have any +RW's.

It seems to have worked as I can then use the edit disc function from the main module.

I had installed the trial on my editing pc, which doesn't connect to the net, so couldn't activate it. I have since installed it on an external drive and connected this to my office pc and have now activated it, which has given me access to text/thumbnail menus, which is a help.

I am currently downloading the Service Pack and will install it and then have a deeper look and see if I can make any improvemnts to what I did last night before setting off.

Thanks

Arrgghh,

Cannot update the disc recorder, as it says I don't have disc recorder installed.

This may be due to how I have installed it on my external hdd, but could be why I'm having trouble following the instructions from the tutorial....

More investigations......

A search for it turned up no results on any of my hard drives... is it something that is installed seperately? Like these, that are in the

set up/OEM/target/all folder

Quick drop
uDVD erase
movie hunter

Anyway, it's too late for today, I've got to load up 1500 dvds and go visiting people.

Took my open session dvds to the duplicating machine manufacturers, but no dice, it wouldn't copy an open session.

Back to the drawing board.

I notice in another thread Madd that you say that MF5 doesn't work properly without SP2 installed. My video editing pc doesn't have SP2. It doesn't connect to the net, everything works without SP2, so I haven't instaled it.

I have two problems. The trial of MF5 is coming to an end. I have an activation code from Ulead, but without networking the pc and connecting to the net I can't use it. I have tried installing MF5 from my office pc onto an external hdd and activating it, then connecting to the Video pc, but no dice, dll files are missing.... I'm off to see if I can find them with some deep searching as they are not easily visible.

John,
an excellent explanation of the VR format especially the differences between the -VR and the +VR formats. I will add this to the list of FAQ's for ease of future refernece.
