Creating Video File
Hey sorry if i sound like a noob but i need a little help asap. I have to finish my video off by friday, which i have completed, but when i go to create the video file i get a ridiculous file size. A two minute video ended up being over 15gb which is way to high. I tried the video i created and it ended up being 80gb. My question is why is it so high? Am i doing something wrong? I need to fit the video on a dvd to hand in and there is no way it would fit. The videos that i used within the media studio program were all avi's and the video file i am trying to create out of mediastudio is avi. Again, sorry if posts like this are annoying but i have to hand this in by friday. Thanks!
What version of MSP are you running?
It sounds like you are rendering uncompressed .avi files. if you plan to create a DVD that will work in a dvd player, then save as type MPEG, and select from the TEMPLATES the DVD-PAL or DVD-NTSC settings (depends on if you are doing PAL or NTSC).
Regards,
George

What is your video source and how are you getting it into your computer? What are your settings while capturing and editing? And please fill in your system details in your profile as per http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic.php?t=8961

Thanks for the reply
Ok i am running MSP 8. I did what you said about the mpeg georgeW and i get a 20mb file for a 26 sec video. It is a lot better file size but is this still normal? I'm using DVD-PAL. The videos i am using are coming from my digital video camera but after i have already copied the clips to the computer.
P.S ever since i made these changes i get a WARNING: NOTHING TO OUTPUT BFRAME DECODER LAG at the start of every individual video. How do i get rid of this? Did i do something wrong? It just makes the video look bad.

I'm sorry, I still don't understand what you are doing. The files from a DV cam should be ~13 Gb/hour. Your editing should be done with the project settings the same as your capture (usually DV type 1) so any avi file created should also be 13 Gb/h or ~220 Mb/min or 3.6 Mb/sec.
When this is encoded to MPEG-2 for DVD, this depends on your video and audio bitrates but you can get high quality work at about 2,5-3.0 Gb/h, so 20 Mb for 26 seconds, seems reasonable.
I have no idea what your warning message means, but I suspect it may have something to do with the way you created your unnecessarily large files.
