Source file had some problems! (5004) - VS9

Post by cdkindle »

Using recommended procedure.

Create video file

When I try to burn, it gives me a little bit of the blue bar of progress, but then I get the "source file had some problems" error.

I have done a clean uninstall and reinstalled. I have created the video file twice.

Don't know what else to try and can't find anybody else with the same problem.

Help!

Please list properties of the captured (source) video and the properties that you have set up when you try to create your video file.

Captured file from Sony Camcorder.

Used recommended procedures to create MPG file:

(is there an easy way to paste this in?)

File format: NTSC DVD
File size; 3,404,242 KB
Duration: 3674.441 sec

Video Type: MPEG-2video, lower Field first
Total Frames: 110,123 frames
attributes: 24bits, 720x480, 4:3
frame rate: 29.970 frames/sec
data rate: variable rate (max 8000 kbps)

audio type: dolby digital audio
Total samples: 176,373,173 Smples
Attributes: 48000HZ,2/0(l,r)
Layer: None
Bit rate: 256kbps

to create video file:

recommended settings with mpeg, dolby audiot, 100% and 8000

What's the best way to post all that?

I tried the burn with and without the menus.

Have you ever completed a burn before, or is this your first attempt?

Hi

Not sure about the problem you are having.

Pasting text.

File ¡V preferences-tick-show messages when inserting¡K¡K¡K

Start a new project
Insert your video clip
You will get a message window. (if the file is compatible)
Select ¡¥details¡¦
Use mouse to select and copy the video properties (Ctrl+C)
Paste (Ctrl+V)

Or try using:-

Tools Make Movie Menu-Add-file path (search your hard drive for the video) give the template a name.
The following window shows the property details of the video file¡Xcopy and paste.
You can use this template from Share---Create Video File.
Sometimes can be useful

Trevor

Ps¡K¡K¡K. how did you capture your video, to Dv or Dvd format?
¡K¡K¡K¡K.Via firewire or capture card?

I just noticed your system profile, which lists 8GB of free space on your hard drive. This might be the problem because it is marginal space for the create video operation and the system virtual memory. It might be time to add a second hard drive to your system...

Another possibility is that you are selecting the video file properties by using the "Same As Project Properties" and these do not match your captured file properties (which are fine, BTW).

Yes, I have burned quite a few DVD's - 15 years of home videos.

I had this marvellous idea to create an Video Editing hardware profile and user and ended up having to re-install VS9.

I just freed up some more space (over 10GB now), so will see if that helps.

I captured via firewire to DV format

Video properties:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 256 kbps
Dolby Digital Audio, 48 KHz, 2/0(L,R)

Create Video properties:
MPEG files
24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Lower Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
Audio data rate: 224 kbps
MPEG audio layer 2, 48 KHz, Stereo

Off to my Video Editting profile to try again with more space

still can't burn

Still can't burn - will re-create video file overnight.

One thing I think might be contributing to this:

When looking for space, there's a file, VTS_01_1.VOB in \Documents and Settings\Video Editor\My Documents\Ulead VideoStudio\9.0\UVS_TEMP\BurnTmp\VIDEO_TS that I can't delete - says Access denied. I've tried changing the read only flag for the folders UVS_TEMP and all sub-directories and it works for everything except the file. I've logged on under different users and cannot get rid of this 711 MB file.

got rid of temp file in safe mode

I was able to delete the VTS_01)1.VOB file in safe mode.

Hi cdkindle

The location of that file on your hard drive is in the ¡¥Burner Working Folder¡¦
VS 9 and 10 use two working folders, one for ¡¥capture and edit¡¦ and the other for the burners temporary rendered files.
You can change the location of this folder from the burner module- Alt+G (lower left icon.)
Having files in this folder indicates to me that rendering within the burner has taken place. (Although the files are usually deleted after use)
Rendering within the burner module is not advisable even with sufficient space.

Capture

If you capture to DV via firewire your video properties should indicate Microsoft AVI files not Mpeg?????????
They will be 13Gb per hour

This brings us back to Johns comments on the size of your hard drive.?????????
Using Dv-Avi may not be an option knowing your limited space.

Your Mpeg video properties do look ok and should burn without problems.
You have to make sure that the video properties and the project properties are the same.

I captured the file DV via firewire and then did the create video file to Mpeg. I'm trying to burn the Mpeg file. (used the recommended procedure of creating the video file and burning it as separate steps)

I already had the Mpeg file on my hard drive when I said I had 8GB free.

I cleaned up some temp stuff and unwanted programs, etc. and now have 11 GB free with the mpeg already created.

My mpeg file is correct because when I go to burn, it doesn't give me the message about it taking a long time.

I'll try the burn again later today - need to fix 2 pies for Thanksgiving. I saw that you're in England, so are not having a Holiday, but Happy Thanksgiving anyway.

Did you Share Create Video File¡XMpeg

Or

Share Create Video File-Ntsc-Dvd

Use the Ntsc-dvd option

Have a good day

Now its time for tea.
