Hi all,
Has anybody run into this?
First, I installed the InterVideo XPack for Windows Media Player 11.
That worked fine.
Second, I decided to buy the new InterVideo WinDVD 8.
That seemed to install OK.
Now for the problem:
Each and every time my computer starts... a folder is automatically opened:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead
This folder opens -- as if somebody browsed to it -- and it just sits there as Windows XP Home loads.
Inside the folder, there's a .DLL:
uAgentService.dll
Why is this folder opening?
How do I stop this behavior?
I've sent an email to InterVideo technical support.
Hopefully somebody there will help.
Thanks,
Jerry Jones

Check the following 3 locations:
1. Windows START | Programs | Startup
2. Registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
3. Registry
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
If these 3 steps fail to find it then you can check
Windows START | Run | MsConfig
And finally
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm
There is a good program in that link called autoruns.

Thanks, John.
However, I'm not certain what I'm supposed to do.
In...
Registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
...I do see a reference to that folder and a file called "Ulead Auto Detector."
Am I supposed to delete and/or modify that in some way?

OK, I've fixed it.
Ulead PhotoImpact 11 has a little program called "Ulead Auto Detector" that hides down in the system tray.
After installing InterVideo WinDVD 8, this "Ulead Auto Detector" program's auto start feature was somehow activated.
Anyway, by clicking on the Ulead Auto Detector icon in the system tray, I was presented with a pop-up menu that featured a check box.
I UNCHECKED that box so that the program would *not* startup automatically.
VOILA!
That pesky folder no longer opens when I boot the computer.

By the way, HDV playback in InterVideo WinDVD 8 is stellar.
Very nice.
I haven't yet tested the H.264 playback, but plan to do so soon.
