HELP!!! - Videostudio Freezes, freezes have to reboot.

Hi Everyone,

I'm having severe trouble with videostudio 10. In them middle of each project I'm trying to work on, my system "freezes" and it won't let me play the video. I get a message "Failed to use directshow video engine. colnitialize has not been called". I tried reisntalling DirectX and it didn't help. This is driving me crazy and I need help bad. I think it's a memory issue but I wasn't having this issue before I had to reformat my drive. I have 1 Gig of ram and a pentium 4 at 3 ghz if that helps. Also, when i'm burning my projects, the still images seem to be rather sharp and pixelly on the TV, but now when previewed on the computer.. Thanks in advance everyone!

My first question is 'Why did you have to reformat your drive?' this indicated a possible hardware problem probably a faulty hard drive or memory chip.

I had to reformat my drive because it was giving me boot up problems. Think I caught a virus or something. Everything else seems to be working fine now though. I don't really know what "directshow" is, I've tried doing research but couldn't find the solution on my own. I'll try to fill out all my system info soon if that might help.
