Hi there, Does anybody know of a video capture device (internal or external) that has 64 bit driver support? I have an old USB2 AverMedia EZ-Maker which, although rarely used, used to work ok under 32 bit XP but it seems there are no drivers for X64. I've tried to contact their support but no response whatsoever. The device came with MovieFactory which is a nice simple piece of software for those occasional captures and I would like to continue using it. Hence my question, does anybody know of any hardware that will enable me to continue using this software on X64?
Many thanks,
Jim

Hi Jim,
I don't think you are going to find any WinXP 64 bit drivers for that. Did the device come with DMF2? There are several hardware capture devices, but again the 64 bit can be a problem. I done a fair amount of searching for devices that stated support for WinXP 64bit, however came up empty.
My suggestion would be to purchase a device that uses Firewire. There are numerous ones that do. Some even do the transcoding, so your PC doesn't have that extra stress placed on it.
You might look at an AdsTech or (if your budget can stand it) Canopus, Edius Pro Coder (about $700 US). Something even cheaper would be to locate a DV camcorder that has Pass-through. The camcorder transcodes your analogue video to digital. I still use my old Sony DCR-TRV120. I can connect a VCR to it, and connect the camcorder to my PC via Firewire. That way you would not have to worry about 64bit drivers.
