I am looking at possibly buying ULEAD's authoring software due to its early BD authoring support. But I have 2 quick questions that I didn't get a good answer for on the FAQ/Knowledgebase pages:
1) When you burn a BD video disc, will it play OK on the new set-top players? (Sony/Samsungs, etc.) Has anyone tried?
2) Any known issues with this software running on one of those new MacIntel computers running bootcamp or parallels?
Thanks for any feedback!

Re: BD authoring questions before buying software
Yes, it will. DVDMF 5 Plus has passed the BD logo verification program which is designed by Sony and that means the BD disc burned by DVDMF 5 will be played on BD players.paradigmlost wrote:1) When you burn a BD video disc, will it play OK on the new set-top players? However, some first-release Samsung BD player is been reported to have bugs to play the BD disc authored by DVDMF and should be fixed by updating the firmware of the player.
So far as I know there is no user report in this case. However, I would not suggest to run in this kind of setup.paradigmlost wrote:2) Any known issues with this software running on one of those new MacIntel computers running bootcamp or parallels?

It doesn't work for me
I have Moviefactory 5 plus and it won't write a Blu-ray disc that can be played back on any set-top boxes I've tried. The discs play back on the PC, but all fail to work on anything else.
Also tried the PowerProducer that came with the drive and that does the same thing. Looks like they havn't sorted out the writing side properly yet so if you're wanting to play back on your set top box I'd forget it for now

To burn a BD disc you need a BD burner. Can you tell us the BD burner model and the disc you use?
Also some details on the players, some system configuration and how you burn the disk would be great.
We also have a Sony PS3 here and it's playing well.

I'm using the Sony BWU100a with latest firmware 1.0c my PS3 had firmware 1.10 and now has 1.11 and still won't play. Am using sony approved TDK BD-RE 2.0 discs. The samsung player had the latest firmware on it so should be able to play discs if they're wriiten properly.
I did have 1 succesful disc written in Cyberlinks Powerproducer using an old HD WMV file I made 6 months ago, but nothing I try works with this software
I've tried direct to disc from camera mode or tried bringing in wmv hd files or mpeg 2 transport streams into moviefactory then added chapter points and gone in and told it to make the disc. I tried the preset for hd(which only does 1440x1080) and it took ages to remake the file then burn the disc and that works on the pc but not the set top players, have also tried making a new preset the uses full HD at 1920x1080 that doesn't work either. (I've noticed that it defaults to Standard def when you start a project, havn't tried that as i don't want to write in standard def)
I'd really like to get this to work as I work for a company who build Video Editing PC's and we have customers who want to start using Blu-ray, but until we can find a reliable solution we're having to tell them to hold off
