System tray icons

Post by errenn48 »

How do I remove the icons for Ulead Calender Checker and Ulead AutoDetector on the system tray, so they don't come back everytime I start my computer??

I removed them a long time ago so cannot remember exactly which of these methods I used but it was definitely one of them so you will need to check all 3.

1. Click the Windows START button
All Programs | Startup.

If the entries are there simply delete them.

2. Click the Windows START button
RUN and then in the box that pops up REGEDIT
This starts the Windows Registry Editor. It resembles Windows Explorer to some degree and you need to navigate to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
See if the entries are there and if so delete them.

3. Try right clicking the icon in the System Tray and see if contains an entry OPTIONS. If so that may include something like 'Run when windows Starts' - if so deselect it.

It's only one of the above 3 - sorry I cannot remember which method was the one I used.

I have tried all 3 methods, without any luck.

Seems as this is a question I have to send to Ulead support.

Thanks anyway :)

No, I haven't GKDantas, but I have chosen quit from the systemtray.
Instead of logging of, I use the Windows + L key to logg off. When I logging on again, the programs doesn't start again.

You can hack the registry

Code: Select all

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoTrayItemsDisplay"=dword:00000001
To display them again alter the value to zero

This worked for me. Goto run from start button and type in msconfig.

Hit the startup tab and then untick anything you dont want to start at start up.

Yup, thats the ticket, Nick.
Safer then regedit, which many dont feel comfortable with editing.
