If I capture with MV8 can I edit and make the dvd in MF5?

Of course. I don't think Heinz or I could have said it more clearly that you should simply use the capture software that works...

So, until MF5 has a cure, just capture with software that works.
Of course this is no solution if you were planning to capture directly to DVD. But otherwise it's not a big problem... get your AVIs on the system and continue from there.
