Recently bought V10+ for burning on to regular dvds
however after I have gone through the whole process and it starts to burn, once it reaches 100%(usually around 1.5 hours later) it says that burning has failed
Can anyone enlighten me to where I am going wrong?
The discs I am using to burn are Samsung Pleomax DVD-R, would this make any difference? Also the "movies" I am tryin to burn are already stored onto my PC

Ulead burn DVDs
VS 10 is a great program for movie making, slide shows, etc. However, it is not too good in the following areas:Editing/cutting, etc. and burning. Therefore, I use TDA to burn and VideoRedo to edit. I save as a file rather then burning directly. Then, I use the above software to author.

Hi, I have had similar problems in the past so now always untick burn to DVD and tick Create DVD Folders which will burn your project to a hard disc directory rather than direct to DVD. This enables you review the output via something like Power DVD and then burn the DVD via Nero or other burning S/W.
This approach works every time for me and has done away with DVD Coasters and maximises computability with DVD players

This suggests that the Smart Render feaure is not working. For it to do so, the output video properties need to exactly match the source material.bluenosenic wrote:...however after I have gone through the whole process and it starts to burn, once it reaches 100%(usually around 1.5 hours later) it says that burning has failed
I wouldn't think so. I've had no problems even with the cheapest green disks I've bought in the past.bluenosenic wrote:The discs I am using to burn are Samsung Pleomax DVD-R, would this make any difference?
You should use the recommended procedure, described in jchunter's "sticky" at the top of the forum. That's widely accepted as the most trouble free method for burning to DVD with VS. Basically, you normally only burn a disk with a single video file, created from your VS project, on the timeline.bluenosenic wrote:Also the "movies" I am tryin to burn are already stored onto my PC
I would disagree with the above. I find VS to be fine for edting/cutting, and, when using the "recommended procedure" also fine for burning.pepegot2 wrote:VS 10 is a great program for movie making, slide shows, etc. However, it is not too good in the following areas:Editing/cutting, etc. and burning.

Sure you can. When you're creating a video file, from the "Create Video File" dialogue box, hit the "Options" button and then uncheck "Perform Smart Render".chum94555 wrote:If smart render is a problem, can we disable it? or is there a fix from ULEAD ?

If you wish to disable smart render when creating a disk, hit the "cogwheel" icon at the bottom left of the "Create Disc" dialogue box and uncheck "Do not convert compliant MPEG files".
There's really no reason why smart render shouldn't work for you, however. When checking file properties, be sure to check the audio properties too. Beware of all of many VS default settings, that might prevent smart render from working.
