sjj1805 Help!! Further to your good advice

Post by Screwball »

On your good advice and instruction, I have formatted a second 160 gb drive to use exclusively for Ulead 9. Removed everything uneccesary (internet stuff, games, etc etc.) All has gone well but when I try to listen to audio files, I get the message " A device ID has been used that is out of range of your system". I presume that the second drive, in its 'bare bones' situation, does not recognise the hardware on my computer as it entirely 'stand alone' with it's own OS.
1) How can I resolve the issue?
2) What other hardware/software must I tell it to recognise before Ulead will operate to it full capacity?
3) Another small problem is that I have had to install UL9 on my first drive to access this web board as there is no internet connection on the second drive4) I wish to retain the 'bare bones' situation but it seems to me that I will need to install lots of programmes to attain full functionality? Yes - No?
My kindest regards if you can answer
Kevin

Having installed a Second Hard drive exclusively for use with Video Editing
I would do the following.

Step 1.

Here you set up your second (independent) operating system with all the necessary drivers to do the job required. sound drivers, video drivers - everything except an internet connection and don't install any software you don't intend to use with the video editing system. You shouldn't even need an anti-virus program.

The main trick employed here is unplugging your original hard drive (just pull the power lead out) and then install your Windows Operating system.
Once completed restore the power to your original hard drive.
Your computer will now boot as it did before to your original operating system and environment. to activate the new one you have to use the system BIOS. When you turn off your computer and turn it back on you see a message press (this key) to enter setup. This is where you tell it to boot from the other hard drive.

Step 2.
Even this bare bones system will be running unnecessary background programs so next thing to do is:
