Menu playback selection

Using VS9 I know how to play back a full project at once and I know how to run separate scenes, but how do you make a menu where you can select to play a scene or the full project?

I'm currently working on a 1hr project with various scenes, I have put them all togheter and burnt the DVD so that it will play the full project at once, the only thing is that I can't do, is skip or Fforward or back it will just play or stop, is there something else that I should be doing?

Any help would be appreciated
