Ulead videostudio 10 plus will not start unless I reset PC

Hello, I have just installed retail boxed version of the VS 10 plus. I also have a desktop short cut icon. I am finding that to start the program, I need to power down and power back up the pc. Once I start VS 10plus in this fashion and then close the application, to restart, I have to actually power down Pc and restart and then only application will start. I use I use XP home and have made sure system is robust enough to handle this app.

Any thoughts?

I find that ulead is still running in the background. On win 2K I do I ctrl alt del and tell the task manager to end the process.
