I've read and performed ALL of the suggestions regarding "matching" propertities, do not convert...mpeg, etc. etc. etc.
What I don't understand is this:
Using VS10, it takes 2.5 HOURS to burn a 36 MIN mpeg-2 file.
Using CD&DVD PictureShow 4, it takes 26 MINs to burn the exact same mpeg-2 file. The DVD has very good quality.
Same computer, DVD drive, nothing else running, no motion menus, on and on and on....EVERYTHING IS THE SAME!
I like VS10 for the very flexible menus, but the burn time is unacceptable.
I think I wasted my money buying VS10.

It sounds like something doesn't match. Please list your clip, project & burn properties.

The evidence points to video file conversion while trying to burn. This could happen if you:pladler wrote:I've read and performed ALL of the suggestions regarding "matching" propertities, do not convert...mpeg, etc. etc. etc.
What I don't understand is this:
Using VS10, it takes 2.5 HOURS to burn a 36 MIN mpeg-2 file.
1) Did not set the burn properties to match those of your video file,
2) Placed the video file in the EDIT timline instead of the BURN timeline,
3) Selected the Project file instead of the Video file in the Burn module.

Just in case you missed it . . .
I've had the same problem so I want to emphasize a point already made above . . . make sure you select the mpeg file to burn and not the project file. I believe VS10 re-renders every time when you select the project file.
Don't give up, VS10 burns fine for me so there's something not right somewhere.

Thanks guys
jchunter.......
1. All burn propertiies were matched
2. It didn't matter that the video file was in the edit timeline or not
3. THIS WAS THE FAULT.....I was adding the "Project File" in the Create a Disc screen. When I used the Video file here my world changed.
A 30min. Captured mpeg-2 file took about 7 mins to create a Video file (rendering), then, and get this, the entire Burn process was 6 mins.
PPeterHF.......
You also were right. looks like VS10 re-renders ("Converting Video of the title....) when you use the Project File instead of the Video file.
Looks like I didn't waste my money on VS10 after all...thanks to you guys.
