Changed Screen Resolution

Post by Captain G »

Straight from the Newbee. This is my first post to this forum.

Though I've had Video Studio 6 for about two years I haven't, until yesterday, created a DVD from a movie I've produced. Prior to this point I have on one occasion transfered a movie I made back to the camera.

I transfered my latest creation onto a CD-R in the MPEG format. Everything is fine except for one thing. The screen resolution is such that the movie is slightly stretched vertically. (A circle would be oval with the two ends of the oval at the top and bottom.)

To the TechSmart folks in this forum, do you have a solution for this problem?

Thanks

We don't have much to go by here but I assume you encoded to mpeg1 for VCD or SVCD. Especially with SVCD format, when you look at the rendered clip with MS MediaPlayer, the video is vertically stretched. When you burn this to a CD-R disk as SVCD, the footage is in the correct aspect ratio. I assume you did something wrong. Maybe you rendered to SVCD but burned as VCD?

Not sure about that.

I went through quite a bit yesterday with the online HP folks. As it turns out, my DVD burner will only burn to DVD+R, CD-R and a couple of other media. My initial intent was to put it onto a DVD-R that I had.

Since that didn't work I dropped it onto the CD-R disk I had. I can't remember if it was MPEG-1, but it was saved in an MPEG format.

I didn't view in Windows Media Player. I viewed it with InterVideo WINDVD.

Future posts will have more savy info as my learning curve swoops upward. That sounds like a good tag line there.

Thanks,
George
